Event Updates: Rotary Respect In The Top End |
 |
|
At the recent Northern Territory Titles held at Hidden Valley Dragway Brad Bakers Series 1 RX7 put on a great spectacle for the Sports Compact Community taking on the big block clan from the top end.
Having had 12 months off from driving duties and having the car recently rebuilt and race prepped in NSW by Blacktrack Performance Dyno Centre, Brad took it easy on the first couple of passes with a 10.44 ET @ 126.40MPH to open proceedings followed up with a 10.05 ET @ 128.94 MPH, feeling confident Brad was lined up against the fastest car in the NT, a big block V8 running 9.5 ET’s.
Brad rose to the challenge posting a very respectable 9.22 ET @ 147.06 MPH to the surprise of the local racers in super sedan holding the fastest ET in the Super Sedan bracket for the entire field. Brad stated early in the night he was considered the “black sheep” with people not taking to much interest in the car. By the end of the night he had won the respect of several of the racers who were surprised the car could run so fast and straight on only a 8.5 inch tyre as most of them were struggling with the track conditions with much larger tyres.
Both Brad and Justin from Blacktrack have been very pleased with the times of this car as it is a very cost effective little package and certainly could go a lot further
